So Caden got his very first pet today. We have a cat, but that is really Rachel's pet. Today Caden got a turtle or as he says, "tur-tur."
It is a Red Eared Slider that Rachel found while she was running. It's just a little baby right now. The picture shows what it will look like when it is bigger. I will take some pictures of Caden's little guy and post them tomorrow.
Any thoughts for some good name?
I kinda like the name Speedy, but Caden probably can't say that yet. How about Zoom? I bet he could say that!

How about tur-tur he can already say that and he wouldn't have to go through that whole psychological process of getting rid of the old name and getting used to the new one.........just a thought.

My first pet was a turtle named "GI Joe". I wouldn't mind if you wanted to use that name. But in all seriousness: I just read an article on how baby turtles carry salmonella or something like that and little kids (Caden) and pregnant women (Rachel) can get seriously ill from touching them. So be careful!

Emily, we have heard this as well. I think our plan is to not have Rachel and Caden touch it for awhile. Caden is content so far with looking at it through the glass. I guess when the turtle gets to 4 inches the likelihood of it carrying salmonella greatly diminishes.
Thanks for the info.

Not to be annoying, but wouldn't the little thing be happier in its natural environment, since it's wild to begin with?
