Today turned out to be a pretty sad day for the Bergman household. We started the day by taking our pet Turtle Charlie to a little lake across the street to set him free. He was getting big and we realized that it wouldn't be long before he was too big for our little apartment. The pond has many Red Eared Slider turtles in it already so he will be amongst friends. Even though Charlie smelled and I had to clean out his cage all the time it was still sad to see him go.
Well, that was only sad part #1.
Last week we realized that our cat Coverdale wasn't eating (named after a former Indiana Hoosiers basketball player Tom Coverdale who had red hair). We took him to the vet to get checked out and they gave him some fluids and medicine to try to get him back to normal. When that didn't work they decided to do some blood work. This morning when we took him back to the vet the blood work showed that he had the terminal illness Feline Leukemia. It was either take him back home and let him suffer for a few more days or weeks or have him put to sleep. We chose to have him put to sleep. He was such a good cat and we have so many good memories with him. We'll miss you Coverdale.
After quite a few tears and a long goodbye we went home to an apartment with no pets...well, except one little monkey and another one on the way!
